Rules & Rights

The Writer Games is intended to be a safe, encouraging place for writers of all ages and backgrounds, check out our contest rules to make sure you're following the correct guidelines when participating.

*Rules are subject to be changed by the TWG team at any time and without notice

Avoid Content or Words that Blasphemes God

While we know that our community and participants come from varying backgrounds and beliefs, our founder is Christian, thus it is of utmost importance that the God of the Bible be honored in the work associated with this contest.

2

Use G-Rated Language (no swearing/cursing)

In order to respect our Judges, and writers of all ages, we do not allow cursing in works associated with this contest. Some highly fantasy (aka "made up") words may be allowed. If you have any doubts, please send us a message.

3

Keep violence and gore PG-13

While we all love to watch battle scenes and such play out on the page, let's keep it PG-13.

4

Keep all content clean (romance-wise... don't be gross, guys)

Again, in order to be sensitive to some of our readers and staff, please keep romantic situations in your submissions clean. (If you're unsure of what this means, send us a message!).

5

All stories/content submitted must be your original, unpublished works

Because this contest is meant to inspire you to write new stories specific to our challenges, we require that all submissions must be your original, previously unpublished (has never appeared on a blog, in print, etc.) work.

6

By submitting your work to us, you are giving us permission to post (or "publish") your story on our website. But you retain all rights to your work.

You retain all rights to your submission(s), and can freely post/use them wherever and however you choose. However, by submitting to us, you are granting us permission to post your submission on our website.

7

Be encouraging, uplifting, and respectful to your fellow writers & participants

Here at the Writer Games it is important--both in our community chats, and amongst those participating in the contest--that we treat each other with respect. This isn't a place for critique or "tough love", this is a place to have fun writing, and to encourage your fellow writers on their journeys.

8

HAVE FUN!

And last, but not least, the most important part of the Games is that you HAVE FUN! Don't worry about getting everything perfect, don't take it too seriously--focus on experiencing the awesome challenge of writing new stories.

Wondering whether something in your story pertains to one of these rules?

With the wide variety of genres and stories being created for the Games, there's bound to be some questions about whether certain content is allowed or not--when that time comes, shoot us a message about it! (we don't bite--promise).
